Kyle was born a human, then as he grew up discovered he could flick through time, kind of like a book. As he grew older he could go back and forth through time. He was shunned as a child and so has a small resentment for humans, as he is not human anymore, his magic turned him into a full mage, which is actually not human but a kind of half-breed.
